Drugs or medicines have become a part and parcel of our life, and knowing what type of drugs we are to use is a major concern raised among the citizens.

Should we use herbal drugs or conventional drugs? Which will be more effective? The difference between herbal and conventional drugs has always been discussed.

According to WHO, an estimated number of the population using herbal medicines is up to four billion people, suggesting that 80% of the world population uses herbal-based medicines or products.

In the ancient era, our forefathers used the indigenous method for curing particular medical conditions, using various medicinal plants. This traditional method of using natural products has expanded over time. Conventional medicine practitioner doesn’t hold back to suggest herbal drugs to their patients because herbal products are effective as conventional drugs.

What are herbal drugs? What are conventional drugs?

The use of herbal drugs can be tracked back thousand years ago. Herbal drugs are medicinal products made up of natural components and natural ingredients of herbal plants. The indigenous method of using medicinal plants and their parts, such as their barks, leaves, stem, etc. from which they extract their oils or make their paste by mixing various other plants. There are varieties of forms of herbal drugs available, such as powdered products, ointments, oils, etc.

The evolution of human beings with the progress of scientific technologies has always helped the world to develop every day a little. With this development, a man of science has also come up with different solutions to the world to support a healthy life. Conventional drugs are one of the solutions provided to us. Conventional drugs are chemical-based health care products. Chemical-based products can at times be harmful to our bodies. The constant use of strong chemical products can sometimes create a negative impact on our bodies.

Why should we prefer Herbal medicine over conventional medicine?

In this progressive modern world of science, we are so much dependent on artificial objects that we barely look at natural objects. And if we are to talk about our health, we always think that synthetic or conventional health care products are more convenient than any other products. Even after the rise in the preference for synthetic medicines, we would still find people who still depend on natural products.

We all know what is conventional medicine. It is a specified complex composition associated with pharmaceutical drugs. As compared to herbal drugs, synthetic drugs are more homogenized. The methods used to prepare synthetic drugs are very stern. Though there is a process of filtration and testing synthetic drugs can still be very complicated. After all, it remains a chemical.

Nature has its ways of healing components. These healing components are induced in the parts of nature. The herbal plants or the medicinal plants that we find are some of the most valued of all. For instance, Tusli plants are used for various medicinal purposes like treating cough; Neem Tree can be used for treating diseases related to skin or hair, etc.

Synthetic drugs directly detect the diseases defined by the pathology logically, whereas, natural drugs help in recovering the body on its own. Herbal drugs are as much as effective as conventional drugs; however, natural medicines are very moderate in their effect.

Unlike, synthetic drugs, herbal products are very gentle in their effect. They have very few side effects as compared to synthetic or conventional drugs. Synthetic drugs can be aggressive and harsh, due to the presence of various strong substances and chemicals used to prepare them.  The frequent use of these types of aggressive elements present in synthetic drugs can be harmful to our bodies.

When should we prefer conventional medicine?

Preference for medicine might vary for different individuals. Some of them might prefer herbal drugs, while others might prefer synthetic drugs. People use drugs according to the health issue they are suffering. It also depends on how much the patients are suffering and which type of drugs would it help them reduce their suffering and maintain a healthy life.

There are various reasons to go for conventional medicines:

The first major reason to choose conventional drugs is their accessibility.

Conventional drugs are easily available. We can easily find conventional drugs in our nearby drug store. It becomes convenient for us to find it that easy.

The second reason to choose conventional drugs is their effectiveness.

Being prepared by the man of modern science, synthetic drugs are developed by the most trusted and well-knowledged individuals and are also scientifically proven. It is also declared to be the safest of all which makes it easier for the user to trust them.

One other cause for using synthetic drugs is less knowledge of the other types of drugs like herbal or natural drugs.

Most people have very little knowledge or no knowledge about herbal medicines, which makes drives them far away from herbal products and rely on synthetic drugs.

Slow efficacy.

The slow efficacy of herbal medicine is another reason for preferring conventional medicine over natural products. As herbal medicines are natural and made of herbal plants, the process of curing or treating them goes on a slow pace.

Allergies

Allergies are also one of the major factors for preferring conventional medicines, herbal products being composed of medicinal plants, sometimes can be too strong for some might lead to allergy infections. It differs from person to person.

So just to give you a little bit of context, Ron, before we get started and get started with the Q and A, we wanted somebody, because we are rebranding the tube and one of our target audience are athletes and people who do adventure sports and it becomes really handy for them to have a HerboJoint in their backpacks And however, whichever way they want to use it. So certainly we want to brand it that way. But since that video was simply amazing. And we want to know more about you adventure sports and how injury prone adventure sports are, and, you know, maybe on those lines, we’ll take the conversation forward. Are you good with that?   Ron – Yeah, that’s fine.   Nitish – Okay, cool, man. Let’s get started.   Nitish – Okay. Let me just, pull up the questions. Give me a minute here. Okay. Let’s let’s, let’s just, get started,                           Ron. I could not get a chance to see, see your profile on LinkedIn or anywhere else, but, I know, you are into pharma and you know, just tell us, tell us more about, you know, what do you do so that we can put it on the brief wherever or however, and how, how you came into adventure sports.   Ron – so I guess, what I do for work, last 10 years, I’ve been a pharmacist. in the United States and California and actually around the country. Really. I’m currently working at a hospital. It’s a level-one trauma center. I do the inpatient side, so it’s mostly dealing with doctors and nurses, and there are no patient interactions, just doctors and nurses for the most part. I guess adventure sports, I wouldn’t really go so far as to call it adventure sports, really. It’s, I started diving in 2016, and I was doing it pretty consistently up until a couple years ago, and then after a long hiatus, I finally went again this last March when people started to travel again. it’s something I enjoy doing. I’ve been a pretty good swimmer all my life. I used to be in the Navy. So we did have to have swimming tests and things like that too. https://youtu.be/EkfO4ycP4zM Nitish – I got a silver medal,  for, for my state.   Ron – All right. Nice. Nice.    mostly do a CrossFit for, for exercise and that’s where. I start to get, joint pains and random aches from straining too hard.  Ron – And then I find this product like, that’s pretty skeptical at first. but it, it, for me anyways, it, it does work. it’s a menthol-based cream. So that’s pretty similar to what’s available on the counter here. but this one has a nicer smell to it and, it’s got turmeric in it, which I like. It’s not greasy and so do you use it post-workout or pre-workout? Uh post not always, but but when I do use it, it typically helps Okay, so is it so let’s we’re talking about it since you mentioned about deep sea. Is it? A few things because I i’ve not done deep sea in my whole life. So we want to hear something about What is so different about deep sea diving and how is it different from swimming.   Nitish – In the swimming pool. I mean there would be a lot of difference though A lot of adrenaline rush kicking in, but I just wanted to understand from you.   Ron – Well, I wouldn’t call it deep sea per se. This is recreational diving. Recreational diving has a cap of 130 feet. most of the things you see, you’re going to see at 40 to 60 feet, which is about 15 to 20 meters. So 15 to 20 meters is good, a good depth where you’ll actually be able to see sea life. Because when you go any deeper than that, it gets too dark for there to be too much to grow and you’re not going to see a whole lot. So 20 meters video, there were, there were a lot of lights that we could see in the deep sea. That one was 22 meters. so what happened was, this time of the year around March off of the coast of Hawaii, manta rays are spotted around this time of the year. So to attract them, the dive companies will set up a bunch of lights on the bottom of
